Abstract

The text looks at how the heritage collection formed in San Francisco convent in Palma over the early centuries of its history. Using historiographic records, the role of different social groups in promoting funerary art, sculpture and painting is highlighted, whilst tracing the history of the different works and analysing those that remain today. There are few testimonies of what was once a collection with immense artistic value for a convent that stood as a melting pot for the society of the time.
