Abstract

The article highlights the urgency of addressing today's economic, environmental, social, and moral challenges. It examines the spread of Ayn Rand's and Friedrich Hayek's ideas, emphasizing how their vision of liberalism and the market has shaped modern society. Rand promotes extreme individualism and selfishness as a virtue, while Hayek advocates submission to market forces, rejecting state regulation and social cooperation. The author critiques this dehumanizing ideology and analyzes how it has generated inequalities and global conflicts. In response to this scenario, the article explores resistance to extreme liberalism and proposes a model of hope based on cultural encounters, solidarity, and justice. Finally, it highlights the message of the 2025 Jubilee and the reflections of thinkers such as Mariano Fazio and Charles Péguy, who uphold hope as a driving force for social and moral transformation.
